Q: Do I have to build applications in the United Kingdom to participate?
A: It is intended for companies building software in or for the UK and webinars will be scheduled against UK time. However we will not be enforcing UK only.
Q: How strictly do we need to align with the 6 weeks?
A: Actually it is very flexible. We will be concentrating our resources around a 6 week period in early 2012 – but we will be providing useful information prior to that and we expect many companies to start before or indeed not finish until beyond the end of the 6 weeks.
Q: Is attending Six Weeks of Windows Azure really FREE?
A: Yes. The training webinars and materials will be provided without charge, but participants will require a Windows Azure account to participate in some exercises. Use of the Windows Azure services may incur charges.
Q: If it is free then what do Microsoft get out of it?
A: Happy developers, happy companies and (icing on the cake) … great applications that shine because of the Windows Azure Platform. Hopefully some of you will want us to shout about how awesome your applications are … but we respect that some of you will want to keep your use of Windows Azure secret to stop your competitors copying you. Both scenarios are fine with us.
Q: Do I need to be selling a “software product” to participate as you keep mentioning “market and sell and ISV”?
A: No. However if you do make a software product then we will be able to give you great advice and guidance as well.
Q: Will I need to sign an NDA?
Q: Is there a limit on the number of people who can take part from one company?
A: No. We expect at different points many roles within your company will benefit from taking part – from Managing Direct to Q&A.
Q: Is there a limit to how many applications I can work on during the six weeks?
A: Only at your end 🙂
Q: Do I get any free time on Windows Azure during the 6 Weeks?
No, however depending on different programs and trials available you may be eligible for some free Windows Azure usage. We will cover this off in the first session.
Q: When does it start?
A: The six weeks will start January 23rd 2012 but we will be highlighting great advice, resources and opportunities from October onwards as we know some of you are impatient to get doing with Windows Azure.
Q: When does it end?
A: Six weeks after it started. No… actually it is a great question. We will be doing a number of activities post the 6 weeks – both in terms of highlighting success and on-going help.
Q: Do I need to move EVERYTHING to the cloud?
A: Absolutely not. There are 101 different ways to take advantage of the Windows Azure Platform. You can for instance just move your data to the cloud. Hybrid solutions are very common.
Q: Is this just for technical people?
A: No. We will also be helping business folks make informed choices.

Q: Do I need to understand the Windows Azure Platform before January?
Q: Is this only relevant for companies using Visual Studio and .NET?
A: No. The Windows Azure Platform works great with PhP, Ruby, Java and more.
